A list of vendors licensed for sales only to the University is available. A list of commercial licensed vendors is also available from the University's licensing agent, the Licensing Resource Group (LRG), or call (616) 395-0676.

Vendors interested in becoming licensed for sales only to the University should complete an authorization application and send it to University Marketing and Communications.

Trademarks

Illinois State's trademarks are the University's

  • Abbreviations
  • Nicknames
  • Logos
  • Symbols
  • Mascot
  • Motto
  • Distinctive campus physical features

All designs that include our trademarks must be approved by UMC. The University protects its trademark properties through federal and state registration and common law claims. View Illinois State's Authorization Agreement for Use of University Trademarks on Products Sold Only to the University.

Using the University's trademarks

Only licensed vendors may be used to produce any type of product bearing the University's trademarks. These vendors are required to obtain design approval before producing products bearing Illinois State's trademarks.

Licensed vendors

All licensed vendors must

  • Provide adequate liability insurance
  • Adhere to a code of conduct for fair labor

The University licenses two groups of vendors to use its trademarks on products.


University purchases

The University licenses certain vendors to produce products sold only to Illinois State and not for general public resale (exceptions: temporary fund-raising activities). University units are encouraged to consider this group first for the production of trademark products. Waiver of royalties must be sought from UMC.


Commercial sales

The University also licenses vendors for commercial sales. Royalties are paid to the University for all commercial sales. The vendors licensed for commercial sales may also be used for university purchases of trademark products. Waiver of royalties must be sought from UMC.
